Special Interest Group (SIG)

As a part of Engineering council, NASSCOM has created Special Interest Group (SIG) to expand the engagement of the Engineering and design companies in the activities of Engineering forum, to get synergy in good practices sharing and to address the common challenges. The vision for these SIGs will be to build a synergy in thought process amongst various stake holders of Engineering and Design industry to enable India becoming the leading supplier of engineering solution to the global requirements of more engineering solutions for a greener and cleaner planet. The SIG will also build a common platform for Engineering and Design industry (OEMs, Technology Providers & Solution Integrators [ESPs], GIC and R&Ds) to share the best practices & address the challenges in “Developing India as a Design & Development hub for Engineering products and services catering to Global Requirements”

The proposed objective from the SIG are :

  • Enhanced engagement with and amongst the Engineering and Design communities.
  • To develop Measurement and score card to assess the progress being mad
  • Get the key players into the forum to enhance branding for the forum
  • The chapter will provide larger thought process with people who need it
  • Facilitate Collaboration and participation amongst the members
  • Knowledge sharing forum
  • Sharing of good practices
  • Monthly update on the industries
  • Building an Eco system
  • Talent Attraction and Retention practices
  • Government interface related matters

There are currently four SIG that have been formed:

  • Automotive Sector: SIG for Automotive sector will bring together Auto industry’s key thought leaders on a common platform for exchange of ideas and solutions, deliberate challengesfaced by the industryand build a cohesive engagementamong OEMs, Tier-x suppliers and Service Providersthrough an eco system that fosters innovation,enables improvement in efficiency and shared best practicesacross stakeholders.   • Aerospace: The SIG will focus to make India as an Engineering hub of Tier-I supplier for the OEMs in next 5 years and reach a revenue of $4b in the Aerospace by enabling/building right talent, partnerships, policies and frameworks. Read more
  • Construction & Heavy Engineering (CHE): Platform to share best practices & address challenges in “Developing India as a C&HE Innovation, Design & Development destination for domestic and Global demand”. Read more
  • Telecom: Focus on building a cohesive engagement among the Telecom and Communication Service providers, Integrators and Equipment manufacturers through best practices sharing and working on common challenges to strengthen India as the Telecom out sourcing destination for the world and “make a difference”.
