Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a major role in most economies and contribute up to 60% of total employment and up to 40% of national income (GDP) in emerging economies. For the IT-BPM Sector, SMEs are the hotbed for innovation.
SMEs account for 80% of NASSCOM’s 2500-odd member base and a similar composition is believed to be applicable for the Indian IT BPM industry. SMEs in India are spread across all the key industry sub sectors - IT Services, BPM, Products & Engineering R&D.
The SME council has been created in 2017 as a platform to enable these companies to grow to the next level and collectively derive value from the NASSCOM platform – knowledge dissemination & best practices, Networking & Connects, Policy Advocacy and Brand Building.

The ecosystem, by its very nature would be only as rich as the diversity of its members. Therefore, while creating a supportive environment for ecosystem members, we would also enrich the ecosystem by attracting more and more companies to join.
NASSCOM SME Council will prioritize on delivering value-add sought by existing and new members. Broadly these are: Knowledge dissemination which can be delivered through Round Tables; Identify & Deploy Shared Resources for the benefit of members; Facilitate Policy Advocacy; Assist in customer connects.
