The Event

Digital Wave - Are you ready?

The evolution of the Digital world has started to lower entry barriers, causing long-established boundaries between sectors to tumble. At the same time, the ‘plug and play’ nature of digital assets is causing value chains to disaggregate, creating openings for focused, fast-moving competitors, changing the profile of the consumer thus increasingly determining which companies create or lose value. Globally, enterprises are seeing a tipping point with consumers changing the way they interact and do business leading to fundamental changes across products, channels, processes/production and decision making.

The ‘Digital evolution’ is creating 3 disruptive opportunities for enterprises – i) enhancing interactions among customers, suppliers, stakeholders, and employees, ii) improving management decisions as algorithms crunch big data from social technologies or the Internet of Things and iii) enabling new business or operating models, such as peer-to-peer product innovation or customer service

To take advantage of these opportunities, enterprises are transforming themselves into digital businesses, yet many companies are stumbling as they try to turn their digital agendas into new business and operating models. The Global Enterprises are thus putting strategies in place to manage the challenges brought about by the changing consumer demographics and the disruption to the business model brought about by the evolution of Digitization.

GICs have a leadership role to play in enabling the global enterprises to manage the challenges of Digitization. The journey of GICs started in India in early 1980s and the story of the growth of GICs in India is a fascinating one. India is today home to over 800+ GICs from diverse verticals and diverse application areas. Global Enterprises are looking forward to their GICs to complement the global capabilities in the digital field and GICs have an opportunity to demonstrate their leadership role in enabling the global enterprises to manage the transition in the digitization era.

GICs Opportunity in India

Global captives or Global In-house centers are an integral
component of the growing Indian IT-BPM sector.

India continues to be the world's leading location for GICs with more than 825 GICs operating across multiple locations currently, generating revenue of USD 15.5 billion and employing nearly 5.3 lakh people. India is the only location that allows GICs to offer an entire spectrum of technology services - IT services, BPM, ER&D, software products - spread across 50 Tier I/II/III cities. Traditionally viewed as cost centers for their parent organizations, GICs in India are rapidly maturing and moving up the value chain, evolving into centers of excellence, profit centers, program management offices and an innovation hotbed for emerging markets.

In addition to cost savings, GICs today are expected to drive enhanced value through risk mitigation, expanding existing business portfolio, and enabling new services. While India's cost advantage is expected to sustain for well over two decades, GICs now look at India as the numero uno destination to create tangible business impact.
