Hyderabad Activities

Hyderabad is rightly known as the high-tech city. Hyderabad is the hub of information technology in India. It is today known not only for presence of IT and BPO industry, but also for Pharmaceuticals and Entertainment industries. The progress of a township with state-of-the-art services called HITEC City encouraged several IT and BPO companies to setup operations in the city. A rapid growth of technology in this area has led civic boosters to call the city "Cyberabad". Hyderabad has also been referred to as the second Silicon Valley of India after Bangalore. There have been widespread investments in digital infrastructure within the city, which includes several multinational corporations having established centres in the city. The major areas where such campuses have been setup include Madhapur and Gachibowli. Hyderabad also has the merit of being The Software Training Capital. The city offers innumerable number of software courses that are taken up by thousands from all over the world. Hyderabad is on the brink to become a global city as it has been selected as the location for India's first Fab City.

NASSCOM Activities

  • Member Connect:
    • CEO Meetings: Regular meetings are planned with CEOs to create networking opportunities, address common issues and engage in various related activities. In addition, there are multiple focus groups that meet as part of different platforms:
    • Best Practices Sessions: Meetings are organised between functional heads of Infrastructure, HR, Security and Administration to understand Best Practices, discuss areas of common concern, and gain insights on market trends.
    • Special sessions: NASSCOM organises workshops, seminars and speakers club events where broader level issues are discussed. The focus of such sessions is usually on technology, business, regulatory mechanisms, immigration and visa rules.
    • Inward Delegations: Foreign companies are invited to visit for business partnerships. NASSCOM organises meetings between its member companies and these foreign delegations.
    • Events: Hyderabad is the host city for a number of national events organized by NASSCOM including the Global In-house Centre Conclave, Animation and Gaming Conclave, Quality Summit. These national summits attract delegates from India and overseas and have helped to showcase the potential of the state.
    • Development of Tier II cities: Visakhapatnam has been identified as one of the upcoming locations for IT-BPO related businesses. A bi-monthly programme is being conducted in Vizag to facilitate the development of the city.
    • Policy Advocacy NASSCOM hosts regular meetings with the IT secretary and other officials and industry to discuss issues/challenges facing IT-BPO companies. With NASSCOM’s efforts, the State has declared IT-BPO as `essential services’.
    • Education Initiatives Talent development is a key focus for the region. NASSCOM works closely with the universities and the government to address issues of curriculum, faculty development and standardized assessments.
  • Regional Forums:

    Industry forums at NASSCOM provide a platform to build specific industry groups or thrust areas. Many of the forums function at a national and regional level to increase member engagement and address a wide spectrum of issues. The regional forums for Andhra Pradesh include:

    • Global In-house Centres: Senior leadership of global in-house centres meet once every month and discusses current issues, shares success stories as well as interacts with relevant stakeholders. The forum at Hyderabad has taken leadership to build regional forums at other cities and also increase national and international awareness on the role of global in-house centres
    • Emerge-Product: Friday 2.0, Capability building workshops are key initiatives that take place in the region every month
    • Quality: As part of this initiative, meetings are hosted on emerging trends in quality and operational excellence.
    • Inclusion and Diversity: Regular workshops are held to discuss the I&D initiative, mentor organisations / individuals, build metrics and enhance outreach. It urges member companies to employ people with disabilities, facilitate child care and increase awareness on issues like sexual harassment.
