An article from the sidelines of the NASSCOM Global In-House Centers (GIC) Conclave, stating that US-based conglomerate GE today said it would continue to focus on India even as it feels that the current political situation in the country is "tough". The article quotes Mr. Mr. John Flannery, President & CEO, GE India, stating that we want to further grow in India in the future, however things in India are very tough right now, the political situation has been very fluid over the last couple of months. Around 6,500 engineers currently work at the company's office at Bangalore. Few years ago we had two per cent people working on something that actually had to do with Indian customers and right now it is 15 per cent. Flannery feels that there is a need to "ramp up" the level of domain expertise in the industry. At present, over 60 per cent of GE's business is outside the US.
