An article based on a Boston Consulting Group's latest report titled, ‘The $4.2 Trillion Opportunity: The Internet Economy in G-20’, stating that Internet will be more ad¬dictive than alcohol in India, where more than two thirds - 71 % of those who par¬ticipated in a survey are willing to let go of alcohol for internet access. About 64% would sacrifice chocolate for internet access. Such user interest and participa¬tion is driving the India's Internet industry to Rs 10.8 trillion by 2016 or about to 5.6% to the country's gross domestic product (GDP). If the Internet industry was counted as a separate sector, it would be eighth largest in Indian economy - larger than mining and utilities. The article credits NASSCOM for the data presented.
