Delhi is the capital city for the country and the hub for all political, economic and international activities. Some of the key service industries include information technology, telecommunications, hotels, banking, media and tourism. The NCR region has emerged as an attractive destination for the industry and Gurgaon is often referred to as the BPO capital for the industry. Noida is one the early cities wherein the industry started operations and is host to IT, Semi-conductor and BPO firms.
CEO Meetings: Regular meetings are planned with CEOs to create networking opportunities, address common issues and engage in various related activities.
Best Practices Sessions:Meetings are organised between functional heads of Infrastructure, HR, and Administration to understand Best Practices, discuss areas of common concern, and gain insights on market trends.
Events:NASSCOM organises, workshops, seminars and speakers club events where broader level issues are discussed. The focus of such sessions is usually on technology, business, regulatory mechanisms, immigrations and visa rules and talent development.
Inward Delegations:Foreign companies are invited to visit for business partnerships. NASSCOM organises meetings between its member companies and these foreign delegations.
National Events like the EmergeOut Conclave, Social Media Summit and the BPO Summit are hosted in the region
Development of Tier II cities: Chandigarh and Jaipur have been identified as promising locations for IT-BPO related businesses. NASSCOM has formed a working group to promote these locations. Regular connect programmes with government and industry are being organised.
Policy Advocacy: NASSCOM addresses the critical aspects of Centre and State level policies, amendments and recommendations.
A working group on Physical Security and Infrastructure is in place to take care of issues like cab driver guidelines and others related to transportation. Regular meetings are held with the Police department and local authorities on the security of employees in the IT-BPO industry.
A Cyber city association, rechristened as the “Millennium city welfare society” is operational. The objective of the society is to improve traffic management in Gurgaon.
Noida member companies engage with each other regularly to launch security, power and go green initiatives.
Education Initiative: The region is focusing on Industry-academia tie-ups by encouraging projects and first hand mentorship of colleges by IT-BPO organisations.
Industry forums at NASSCOM provide a platform to build specific industry groups or thrust areas. Many of the forums function at a national and regional level to increase member engagement and address a wide spectrum of issues. The regional forums for Karnataka include:
Global In-house Centres: Senior leadership of global in-house centres meet every month and discusses current issues, shares success stories as well as interacts with relevant stakeholders.
Emerge-Product: Friday 2.0, Mentorship and workshops are key initiatives that take place in the region every month
Quality: As part of this initiative, meetings are hosted on emerging trends in quality and operational excellence.
Inclusion and Diversity: NASSCOM hosts workshops and panel discussions on gender, cultural and generational inclusivity. The NASSCOM team is also in the midst of talks with providers to start shared services for child care.
